Free Verizon CORE Fair for Senior Citizens in Southern Maryland Date: 8/22/2012 Time: 11:00 am to 2:00 pm Location: The Greater Waldorf Jaycees Community Center (View Map) Description: Verizon to Host Free Community Outreach, Resources & Education Fair for Senior Citizens in Southern Maryland Older Adults Will Receive Free Health Information & Referrals, One-On-One Wireless Training, and Information on Discounted Phone Services and Consumer Protections WALDORF, Md. – To celebrate senior citizens, Verizon will treat Southern Maryland’s older adults to a day of free health and wellness information; learning about discounted phone services; getting personal assistance on how to navigate the features on their wireless devices; learning to protect themselves on the Internet; learning to guard against identity theft and other consumer fraud; playing games; and enjoying good food. PARTICIPANTS INCLUDE: Maryland Senator Thomas McLain (Mac) Middleton, Democrat, District 28, Charles County Maryland Delegate C.T. Wilson, Democrat, District 28, Charles County Maryland Delegate Peter F. Murphy (invited), Democrat, District 28, Charles County Representatives from the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP); American Diabetes Association; Civista Health; Charles County Department of Community Services (Aging and Senior Programs Division); Fenwick Landing Adult Day Care; Health Partners; Maryland Office of People’s Counsel; Southern Maryland Consortium of African American Community Organizations; Tri-County Council for Southern Maryland; and United Seniors of Maryland Education Foundation will be on hand to provide information and answer any questions the senior citizens may have. Free lunch and giveaways will be provided.
